You may be eligible for a Short-term study visa if you are over the age of 16 and will be taking an English language course in the UK. You may be eligible if your course lasts longer than 6 months but not more than 11 months.
If your course lasts for 6 months or shorter, you’ll need to apply for a Visitor visa instead.
If your course is longer than 11 months, you’ll need to apply for a Student visa instead.
You must prove that you’ve been accepted onto an English language course that includes no other subjects and your course is with an accredited institution.
You must have enough money to support yourself without working or help from public funds, or that relatives and friends can support and house you.
If you are granted the short-term study visa, you can stay in the UK for the length of your course plus an extra 30 days as long as your stay is no longer than 11 months.
It costs £200 for a Short-term study visa. You’ll also have to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of your online application. It usually costs £776.
